The Pageant is Over, what does a Pageant Director do next?

I just completed the Miss New Orleans Pageant and I’m tired. Months of planning went into getting ready for the Beauty Contest. Hours and hours of designing applications and leaflets, printing flyers, and then distributing them around the region to prime locations. I’ve been taking questions on the phone and email. Delegates will send in faxes and I’ll fax back to them. As a director I am diligently working on the plans for the contest.

You can get one heck of an intense adrenaline rush. An incredible rush builds within as you pour your passion into the Pageant Event. When its all over you come crashing down to earth. All the adrenaline stops and you feel the let-down.

Older women understand what I mean when I say its Hormonal. Women can feel this way after giving birth. Gone are the body’s hormones of excitement shooting around in your body. Your body’s natural drugs are exhausted.

A major change happens to a director when the Beauty Pageant finally comes to a finnish.

My recommendation is to rest for the next 7 days. Forget about Pageant stuff. Educate all contestants and others that you will be out of pocket for the next week.

This is important for your health.

If you are like me you put off all your housework and ignored your family.

It won’t be long before you are brain storming and planning your next Beauty Contestso rest up.

Raising Your Winnings Directing Kids Beauty Contests

Starting a Beauty Contest is not just about the pageantry.It is also about being financially successful. The business goal is to walk away from the event with more money than you spent.A Beauty Pageant can generate extra money with a couple of different techniques. For Children Pageants I like to add Overall Most Beautiful and Overall Fashion.When the parents register their tykes they can choose to pay for a position in the Overall Most Beautiful category. During the contest the registered kids will vie in this award category.
This prize has no bearing on who becomes King or Queen. Giving these extra awards helps spread awards to other kids.

The kids registered for the award all go on stage at the same time. Hand each child a sign with a number to hold up. The numbered paddles help the judges select a winner amongst the grouping of kids.Detecting the Overall Most Beautiful from the crowd is the Judges task.The Overall Fasion award will go the one with best outfit.
Bring all the youngsters on the stage at once for comparisons. There may be a problem if you have too many kids on the stage because of a great turn out.Too many kids makes the judges task difficult.
I don’t offer this award in my larger pageants.
These awards are a tremendous method to get extra income if you have a smaller Beauty Pageant.

Beauty Pageant Sponsorship 101

Beauty Pageants can be a profitable sponsorship vehicle for a restaurant. Think up Creative and interesting tie-ins to your Beauty Contest.I use a different restaurant for each of my Pageants.
New restaurants are looking for novel ways to advertise their business. Get them to be the host for the Winners Banquet. Put their menus in the contestant’s bags as well as use in the program book advertisements.
The banquet is staged soon after the beauty pageant The girls ate for free. The queens will bring along family and friends who will pay for their own meals. When its all said and done the eatery served twenty paying customers and ten free meals.It was a win win situation for all involved.

Photos of the queens and the restaurant owners are used in advertisements and in the restaurant’s celebrity gallery. The night became the first appearance for the queens as queens representing the pageant with me the director there to give them pointers.

You can use this device to for a successful relationship with a restaurant sponsor for your Beauty Pageant.

Dream Come True

Let me tell you my story about how I got involved in pageants and see if it is similar to your story and passion.

Like most girl I would stare at the TV set in amazement at the glorious gallery of beautiful women walking down the glittering runway. My sisters, brothers and mother would boldly state their favorites. My heart would beat faster and faster as contestant after contestant took their turn to stop for the whole audience to see, while radiating the most incredible smile.

They seemed so glamorous, beautiful, and larger than life. No matter what contest it was, Miss America, Miss USA, Miss Universe, Miss What Ever, the effect it had on me was undeniable. I wanted to be on stage with them.

During the intermission between the Swimsuit and Evening Gown competition I would sneak into my older sisters closet and try on her swimsuit and high heels. Then I would practice walking in front of the mirror with as much grace and dignity as any of the contestants on TV.

Then the emcee’s booming voice filled the room, “Our next contestant is none other than Shelly Winters”. Strutting, twirling, and smiling to the huge audience of friends and well wishers. The audience cheered, hooped and hollered.

Then I was busted by my brother wondering where I was. He laughed but I knew right then and there what I wanted to do most of all. I was ten years old when my dreams became my passion.

My desire to pursue the crown really took flight in high school. I experienced a touch of the pageantry as I was elected Junior Maid on the Home Coming Court at John Ehret High School in Marrero Louisiana. Lightning struck again in my Senior Year as 1982 Class Sweet Heart Queen. WOW, the Crown, a bouquet of Roses, a shiny Sash draped from shoulder to waist. Oh the thrill of Victory. I recall feeling beautiful.

I think as individuals we all want to feel accepted. Even deeper is the need to feel LOVE.

From my first win, Mrs. Gretna, I felt the pull toward directorship. After winning several local pageants girls started asking me to coach them.

Then I began my career in Hair & Make-up.

I immersed myself into the world of pageants and I loved it.

I breathed it in and I sweated it out my pores as I worked diligently to learn every facet of the world of pageants.

This all lead up to the big day when I directed my first pageant.

Now that I told you about my start and how it lead to directing beauty pageants can you see how you can do it as well? Yes there is a lot of hard work but the payoff can be very fun, fullfilling, and profitable.

Consider directing beauty pageants if you love helping others follow their dreams in the world of glamor.
